This ride explores the different cultures Bankstown has to offer. From Meadowbank, we cycle along the PVC to Parramatta, then through Clyde and onto Granville and Auburn via Duck River cycleway. From here, we go through Regents Park and cross over the Hume Hwy at Bass Hill then along quiet streets to Bankstown.
Here we can enjoy traditional Asian delicacies, or Mediterranean cuisine and sweets. Bring a backpack and pick up some spices, fresh bread or baklava to take home.
Bankstown has a vibrant Vietnamese community which is paid homage to with a replica of a traditional Bronse Drum and the Boat People Monument. Try the banh mi for a quick snack, tasty pho (noodle soup) if you have time for lunch, or just an iced Viet coffee at Café Nho or one of the many other cafes if you can find a seat!
Don’t leave with a completely full belly, as we also stop in Yagoona at family-run Farida Sweets. Make sure you collect a box of freshly baked French-style Middle Eastern biscuits, before we return via Lidcombe and Rookwood Cemetery to Meadowbank.
