Important information regarding SMS notifications

Are you one of the 70 or so members of Bike North who don’t receive SMS messages from Bike North??
If so, you could be really inconvenienced, particularly if there is a late change to a ride for which you are registered.

It does happen that rides are cancelled at the last minute due to weather, that the meeting point changes, that the starting time changes. If have not ticked the relevant box in your member profile you won’t receive such messages.

To fix this:
1. Log in to the Bike North website as usual
2. Hover the cursor over your name in the top righthand corner of the home page
3. Click on Profile
4. Click on the Basic Member Information box5. Scroll down to the box under the Other Info heading reading: “I agree to receive text messages from the Bike North Inc.” and ensure that the box on the left is ticked. Easy!

My Favourite Ride

Milsons Point to Sydenham via Woolooware

This ride is ridden semi-regularly, usually on Mondays. It avoids the large weekend crowds. Prior to the Metro extension it terminated at Wolli Creek, but a Sydenham finish means a faster train ride home to the north side while retaining the 58kms distance.
This ride gives us Northside riders plenty of Southside scenery to enjoy. There are high views from the Sydney Harbour, Anzac, and Captain Cook Bridges. We see Sydney's sole surviving large-scale inner-suburban market garden at Kyeemagh. We see great water views along the Cooks River and Botany Bay foreshores with the airport on the other side of the bay.
The final ride section provides welcome shade while passing the Wooloware Bay mangroves.
What is a ride without a good coffee break? Toast 2230 on Woolooware Bay delivers with its great staff and service.
The ride has less than a 1% average gradient with just a few short "pinch" points where a low gear is needed.
After passing the airport, the pace increases with less traffic-lights and intersections. It uses the extensive cycleway networks for most of the way.
This ride is suitable for both conventional pedal bikes and e-bikes with both types of bikes common on the ride.
