Bike North respects the privacy of its members and has adopted this policy to ensure the security of personal information collected from members.
How We Collect Personal Information
Bike North collects personal information in application forms submitted by persons applying to join Bike North as a member. These forms may be submitted by on-line form, mail, through a Ride Leader or member of the Committee.
Information We Collect
Bike North only collects information necessary to provide services to members in accordance with our Constitution. Data collected includes:
- Name
- Address
- Email address
- Telephone number
- For family memberships, only minimal information about non-adult members
- Name, relationship, phone and email address of emergency contact

Optional information about your cycling preferences and interests.
Use of Personal Information
Bike North handles personal information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles contained in the Privacy Act (Cth) 1988.
Bike North will only use collected personal information to:
- provide services a member requests
- administer and manage those services, including membership applications and renewals
- inform members of annual general meetings, special general meetings, forthcoming events or matters concerning their membership status
- send members via email the club’s weekly newsletter (opt out available)
- notify members of important changes to the services provided by Bike North
- notify members of any cycling issues that may affect them
- respond to emergency situations
- undertake actions as requested by a member.
Members’ personal information will only be used for the purpose for which it was provided. Member’s information will not be added to any mailing lists unless the member asks for this to be done, or this was the specified purpose for the collection of the personal information.
Disclosure of Personal Information
Bike North will not disclose members’ personal information to any other organisations or others without the member’s consent.
Where Bike North considers it appropriate, it may disclose information to:
- legal officers and law enforcement agencies
- professional advisers, including accountants, auditors and lawyers to carry out their legal functions
- government and regulatory authorities
- and other entities where Bike North believes in good faith that the law requires it.
Storage and Security
Bike North will make every effort to protect the personal information of members from misuse, loss, unauthorised access and unauthorised disclosure. Bike North will store personal member information electronically in the Bike North website and associated databases and will restrict access to that data to Committee and other members for the undertaking of their functions.
Bike North's website and membership data operates on the ClubExpress platform. The ClubExpress Privacy policy is available from the link in the very small text in the last line at the very bottom of its homepage.
Access to Information & Complaints
Members may access their own personal information submitted to Bike North at any time and may correct any information which is not accurate. A member’s information will be removed if so requested, provided that its removal does not affect any legal requirements or ability to provide services to the member. Members may access their personal information through their personal log in to the Bike North website or may request access to their personal information by contacting the Secretary of Bike North at secretary@bikenorth.org.au.
